The design for the August Moon Ball at the Verdala Palace was nothing short of a floral fantasy—a delightful dance where nature and architecture waltzed together in perfect harmony. Every petal and leaf had been placed with the meticulous care conducting an enchanted symphony!
This floral vision sprawled across distinct areas of the palace, each one a unique testament to the interplay of light, energy, and purpose of the room. Each space had its own personality, and oh, what personalities they were!
In the heart of the palace, the Dining Room unveiled a scene straight out of a dream. Picture this: a dramatic display of orchids—Vanda, Mokara, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, and Oncidium—cascading from the pear trees as though they were part of a floral waterfall. The branches laden with Phalaenopsis orchids in glass tubes, stood like living sculptures. The dining table, was bathed in the warm, flickering glow of lanterns—a soft, romantic contrast to the rich whites and purples spilling over the edges. The installation didn’t stop at eye level; it flowed downward as if the room itself were being slowly devoured by this floral embrace. The moss creeping downwards and onto the floor added to the illusion, making it seem as though the palace had always been a living, breathing garden. This dining room, with its towering Oncidium arrangements and foliage nestled among lower floral designs, had been destined to be the most Instagrammed (or should we say artistically captured?) space of the night—a true feast for the eyes!

But the journey hadn’t started there! It had begun at the palace’s majestic entrance, where guests were greeted by what could only be described as a portal to another realm. This grand archway, rugged yet refined, was a masterpiece of organic design. Crafted from wood bark and adorned with a luxurious cascade of flowers, foliage, and moss, it was a sight to behold. Vibrant oranges, set in stone pots, popped against the backdrop, adding a burst of colour that promised an evening of magic and mystery.

The story continued in the verdant palace gardens, where under the open sky, Her Excellency dined with guests amidst the floral theatre we had created. Large round tables, each one more unique than the last, had played host to a symphony of heights and textures. High table designs gave off the drama, while low designs brought warmth and vibrancy by blending fruits with foliage, candles, and mesmerising displays. And let’s not forget the flower table chandeliers that hung overhead, adding an ethereal touch to the evening’s ambiance.

This year’s theme was a tribute to the rich diversity of orchids and the vibrant life of fruits—a narrative woven through every room and outdoor space. From the bold entrance, bursting with oranges, to the architectural pear trees cradling orchids, every element had been curated with a singular purpose: to create a world where elegance met enchantment.
